Cornucopia 2026: a first-timer's guide to Whistler's 30th food and drink festival.

Cornucopia is Whistler's annual festival of food, wine, spirits, and beer, and in 2026 it turns 30. The 30th edition runs 11 days, from November 5 through November 15. Tickets are on sale now across the full program, though a number of events are already sold out. This guide covers what to book, when to book it, and where to stay within walking distance of festival venues.

What is Cornucopia and when does it run in 2026?

Cornucopia has grown over three decades into one of Canada's most anticipated culinary events, drawing chefs, winemakers, distillers, and beverage specialists to the mountains each November. The 2026 edition marks 30 years, and the program leans into the milestone with events created specifically for it.

The 30th anniversary edition explained

This year adds the new 30th Dinner with Reception on November 6 and the Cornucopia Gala: 30th Edition on November 14, alongside returning favourites such as the CRUSH Grand Tasting and Night Market: Legends & Next Generation. More than 100 events run across the 11 days, including 40 Restaurant + Bar events hosted at venues throughout Whistler.

Where events take place across Whistler Village

Many Cornucopia events, including most Signature Events, Drink Seminars, and Culinary Stage sessions, take place at the Whistler Conference Centre, a short walk from the Sundial Hotel. Restaurant + Bar events are hosted at venues across the village, including Araxi Restaurant + Oyster Bar, Il Caminetto, and Bearfoot Bistro, keeping many festival experiences within walking distance of each other.

How an 11-day format differs from a single festival weekend

Cornucopia spans two full weekends and the weekdays between them, making it easy to build a longer itinerary rather than packing everything into 48 hours. The opening weekend includes the new 30th Dinner with Reception and the CRUSH Grand Tasting, while the closing weekend features Night Market: Legends & Next Generation, the Cornucopia Gala: 30th Edition, and The Brunch League.

When should first-timers buy Cornucopia 2026 tickets?

Tickets for the 2026 program are on sale now through the official schedule and tickets page. Early bird pricing on select events ended September 11, and several Restaurant + Bar events at Il Caminetto and Wild Blue Restaurant + Bar are already sold out.

Some Restaurant + Bar events are already sold out, while larger Signature Events such as the CRUSH Grand Tasting at CA$99 and the Cornucopia Gala: 30th Edition at CA$139 still show tickets available. Check the live schedule for current availability, and compare Cornucopia packages that combine discounted event tickets with accommodation against booking each piece separately.

Whistler's autumn shoulder season brings a quieter village pace and generally better accommodation value than ski season. Cornucopia falls within that window, and Whistler Blackcomb is targeting November 20, 2026, for the start of the 2026-27 winter season, weather and conditions permitting. Booking accommodation early gives you the best choice of rooms for festival dates.

Is Cornucopia worth it if you're not a wine expert?

Cornucopia is built for more than practiced palates. Beyond the wine-focused seminars and dinners, the 2026 program includes a dedicated Free Spirit Whistler! seminar on non-alcoholic drinks, a Culinary Stage series built around chefs rather than pairings, and lighthearted Signature Events such as Comedy Kitchen, the With a Twist Silent Disco, and a Murder Mystery dinner at the Fairmont Chateau Whistler that have little to do with tasting notes.

The CRUSH Grand Tasting lets guests explore a broad selection of wines alongside culinary bites at their own pace, without a formal seminar structure. For a first visit, combining one Signature Event, one Drink Seminar, and one Restaurant + Bar event offers a varied introduction to the festival.

Where should first-timers stay for Cornucopia 2026?

A central Whistler Village location keeps November evenings between festival venues simple. Sundial Hotel sits roughly 75 metres from the Whistler Village Gondola and Excalibur Gondola and within walking distance of the Whistler Conference Centre, making it easy to return to your suite between events.

Every suite has a fully-equipped kitchen, a genuine advantage during an 11-day food festival: a slow morning with coffee at home suits the pace better than another restaurant meal after a week of winemaker dinners. Guests can also unwind between tastings in a select private hot tub suite or reserve a 40-minute private rooftop hot tub session, with same-day bookings opening at 8:00 AM.

Sundial Hotel is a TripAdvisor Travelers' Choice Best of the Best 2026 winner, ranked first among Whistler hotels on TripAdvisor, worth weighing alongside proximity to festival venues among Whistler Village's boutique hotels.

What else is there to do in Whistler during Cornucopia week?

Cornucopia falls in Whistler's fall shoulder season, after summer sightseeing ends and before winter lifts start turning. The Whistler Mountain Summer Alpine Experience runs daily only through September 20, 2026, and the Peak 2 Peak and Blackcomb Gondolas are already closed for the season, so gondola sightseeing is not available during the festival. Winter lift operations are targeted to begin November 20, 2026, weather and conditions permitting, putting Cornucopia's closing weekend just days ahead of first lifts.

That gap still leaves plenty to explore at valley level. The Valley Trail and Lost Lake remain accessible for walking, though November weather and trail conditions can vary, so it's worth checking current conditions before heading out. For a broader multi-day itinerary, planning a longer weekend in Whistler offers more ideas beyond the festival. Sundial Hotel's heated underground parking with EV charging is also convenient for guests arriving by car.
