The fall mountain biker's last-lap checklist before Whistler Mountain Bike Park closes.

Whistler Mountain Bike Park wraps its 2026 season on Thanksgiving Monday, October 12, the final day of the Canadian Thanksgiving long weekend. Before the lifts stop turning, here is what to check, what to pack, and where to stay for a well-planned last-lap trip in Whistler Village.

When does Whistler Mountain Bike Park close for the 2026 season.

Whistler Blackcomb confirms the Bike Park is open daily through October 12, 2026, with a Fall Pass covering unlimited riding across that same window. By this point in the season, though, not every zone is still operating.

Zone Status (as of September 17) Final day this season
Fitzsimmons Zone Open October 12, 2026
Garbanzo Zone Open, closing soon September 23, 2026
Creekside Zone Open, closing soon September 23, 2026
Peak Zone (Top of the World) Closed for the season September 13, 2026

Zone dates are set by Whistler Blackcomb and remain subject to weather and conditions, so check the live status page before heading up.

Why hours vary as October nears

Fall operating hours vary, and lifts may close without notice due to weather or conditions. Check Whistler Blackcomb's live lift status the morning of your ride for current hours and last upload times.

What to check before your last day at the park.

A little preparation makes a fall ride more comfortable. Check daily trail and lift status before heading up, since conditions can change quickly after rain. Pack layers: fall daytime temperatures in Whistler Village commonly sit in the high single digits Celsius, with colder mornings, so a waterproof shell and gloves earn their keep on the mountain. Once your riding is done for the season, book a tune-up before your bike goes into storage for winter.

Where to stay for a last-lap Whistler trip.

For a fall riding trip, a central Village location keeps cool mornings simple and the Bike Park close at hand. Sundial Hotel sits steps from the Whistler Village Gondola in the heart of Whistler Village, making it easy to reach the Bike Park base on foot.

At the Sundial Hotel, riders can clean their bikes at the on-site wash station, store them securely, then unwind in a suite with a fully-equipped kitchen and gas fireplace. Guests staying in select private hot tub suites can enjoy their private hot tub 24/7, with no reservation required, for a restorative end to a day on Fitzsimmons. Sundial Hotel is also a TripAdvisor Travelers' Choice Best of the Best 2026 winner, ranked number one of 48 Whistler hotels on TripAdvisor.

What else is happening in Whistler as the Bike Park winds down.

The 2026 season also brings a first for Whistler. From September 25 to 27, Whistler Mountain Bike Park hosts its first UCI Mountain Bike World Cup Downhill in the Creekside Zone, with both free trailside viewing and paid spectator options. Creekside and Garbanzo close to public riding after September 23, while Fitzsimmons Zone stays open on fall operating hours through World Cup weekend and beyond. If you plan to ride during the event, check live Bike Park status before heading out.

Beyond the park, fall brings its own colour: Lost Lake Park, the Valley Trail, and the Fitzsimmons Creek trail through the Village turn shades of copper and gold through October. Guided bear viewing tours are also available in Whistler through the fall, typically into mid-October, as black bears fatten up before hibernation, though schedules vary by operator.

Why the Bike Park's final weekend is worth booking around.

This year, the Bike Park's final day lands on Thanksgiving Monday, October 12, making the long weekend a natural time to plan a final ride. Suites with fully-equipped kitchens and gas fireplaces are well suited to a stay of three to seven nights, whether you are riding out the season or extending the holiday weekend. Cornucopia, Whistler's annual festival of food and drink, runs November 5 to 15, offering another reason to return later in the fall.
