What Is WFF?The Whistler Film Festival Society (WFFS) is a charitable organization dedicated to celebrating and advancing the art of film through the annual Whistler Film Festival and Summit complimented by year-round series of year rounds events and programs include screening series, fundraisers and industry engagement for film fans and filmmakers.
The Whistler Film Festival combines an esteemed international film competition with a concentrated industry summit organized to address the ever-changing landscape of filmmaking in the digital age. The Festival hosts filmmaking luminaries for an intimate five-day program of screenings, tributes, industry initiatives and special events. |
To recognize the vitality of the art form, WFF will feature seven juried competitive sections and 14 awards with $146,500 in cash and prizes to be awarded ($31,500 in cash prizes and $115,000 in prizes), plus one audience award selected from up to 1,000 submissions. Up to 90 films (45 features and 45 shorts) from Canada and around the world, will be presented.
Although films are the foundation of the Whistler Film Festival’s programming, the slate of events offers a unique opportunity for film fans and filmmakers to connect with talent outside of screenings and on or off the slopes. The Signature Series recognizes distinguished artists of our time and honours them with an award and an intimate on-stage interview, complimented by a feature presentation of their most recent film.
