The following list was created to better inform you about all the winter events, festivals and special dates here in Whistler. We hope this list better helps you plan and make your next Whistler vacation your best vacation yet. The list is organized in chronological order from November to May, which equates to the time you can ski and snowboard on at least one of the mountains, Whistler and Blackcomb. Here is a list of everything you need to know about winter events and festivals in Whistler.
November (Opening Month)
Cornucopia Food and Drink Festival - Nov 7 - 17
This Whistler fall festival celebrates food & Drink from all over BC, Canada and around the world. Cornucopia has something for everyone, whether your thing is healthy eating and wellness, fine dining, food and beverage seminars, or one of the many signature party events, our favourite is the Barefoot Bistro World Oyster Invitational & Bloody Caesar Battle.
Whistler Mountain & Blackcomb Mountain Opening Day - Nov 28
As a rule of thumb, every year Whistler Blackcomb (WB) plans to open both mountains around November 22, give or take a few days (ie. 2019 opening day has not be set yet). In addition, WB tries to open a portion of Whistler Mountain early, but this depends on the amount of snow Whistler gets and how prepared Vail is to open.
December (Festive Season)
Whistler Film Festival (WFF) - Dec 4 - 8
The perfect festival for any and all moving picture lovers. Started in 2001 as a way to give new and original talent an opportunity to show off their skills with a camera, the festival has now grown immensely in size and popularity to serve over 16,000 attendees annually.
Festival Holidays - Dec 20 - Jan 6
The city of Whistler does an amazing job turning our village into a winter wonderland and making Whistler an absolutely must experience festival holiday vacation destination. Come experience Fire & Ice shows, Family Apres, Santa day, Festival of Trees, outdoor skating rinks, New Years Eve's firework celebrations and much much more.
