Whistler with a vehicle: the ultimate guide to parking in Whistler.
Whether you're visiting Whistler for a weekend ski trip, a mountain biking getaway, or a week-long summer adventure, parking in Whistler does not have to be stressful. The resort offers a wide range of parking options to suit different needs, budgets, and lengths of stay. Visitors can choose from paid parking in the day lots located just outside the main village, convenient underground parkades close to shops and lifts, and short-term street parking for quick stops. Seasonal changes, event schedules, and time limits can affect availability, but with a bit of planning, it’s easy to find a spot that works for your itinerary. This guide breaks down where to park, how much it costs, and what to expect, so you can spend less time circling for parking and more time enjoying everything Whistler has to offer.
Important parking tips to remember in Whistler.
Before you park, take a moment to check posted signage, as parking rules, time limits, and rates vary by location and season. Popular areas fill up quickly during peak ski days, holidays, and events, so arriving early or doing activities during the weekday helps alleviate overcrowding. Always use official payment methods at pay stations or through approved PayByPhone options, and avoid QR codes, as municipal parking in Whistler does not use them. Planning ahead will help you avoid fines and enjoy a hassle-free visit.

Beware of scams.
The Resort Municipality of Whistler is warning residents and visitors about fraudulent QR codes discovered on parking signs and pay stations. On December 29, 2025, fake QR codes designed to imitate official PayByPhone signage were found in several locations, including Whistler Day Lots 1 through 5 in the Village Centre, Main Street municipal parking areas, and the Marketplace private lot off Lorimer Road.
Municipal parking in Whistler does not use QR codes for payment, and these fake codes may be intended to collect personal or payment information. Anyone who encounters a parking-related QR code is asked to report it to privacy@whistler.ca. To pay for parking safely, users should rely only on official methods, including pay stations, the PayByPhone website or mobile app, phone payment at 1-866-234-7275, or in-person payment at Municipal Hall during business hours.
Ultimate guide on parking in Whistler: lots, locations and rules
Day lots (Lots 1–5)
Location & walking distance to Whistler Village
Located just steps from the heart of Whistler Village, Day Lots 1–5 offer convenient access for day visitors looking to park close to the action:
Central Village access: All Day Lots are located off Blackcomb Way near Whistler Village and Olympic Plaza, within easy walking distance of dining, shopping, and activities.
Short walks to lifts and attractions: Walking times range from about 5 minutes (Lot 1) to 12 minutes (Lot 5), with Lots 1 and 2 closest to the gondolas and Lots 4 and 5 offering more space with slightly longer walks.
Best for day trips, skiing, and events
• Ideal for day visitors: Day Lots 1–5 are designed for skiers, hikers, and same-day visitors seeking convenient access to slopes, bike parks, and trailheads without staying overnight.
Arrive early for availability: Due to high turnover, especially in Lots 1–3 near the gondolas, parking in Day Lots 1–5 is easiest early in the day, with arrival before 9 AM recommended on busy weekends and holidays.
Overnight parking rules
No overnight parking allowed: These strictly enforced day-use lots are cleared of snow nightly, with tickets or towing issued for vehicles left beyond permitted hours.
Check posted rules before parking: Signage and pay stations list current time limits, payment hours, and enforcement details, which may change seasonally or during events.
Make the most of your long weekend in Whistler.
From scenic gondola rides and alpine hikes to world-class dining and cozy evenings by the fire, make the most of your long weekend in Whistler.
START PLANNINGUnderground Village parkades.
Whistler Conference Centre Lot
Central Whistler Village location: This underground lot beneath the Conference Centre, accessed from Blackcomb Way behind the Sundial Hotel, offers sheltered parking steps from the village stroll and nearby hotels, dining, and events.
Protection from the elements: Being underground, the lot shields vehicles from snow, rain, and summer sun, making it ideal for longer stays or added convenience.
On-site EV charging: A limited number of first-come, first-served EV charging stalls are available, with usage fees typically applying.
Whistler Marketplace Lot
North Village convenience: This parkade is located in Whistler Marketplace, including access to Fresh Street Market, BC Liquor Store, and casual dining, making it ideal for errands and short visits.
Affordable central parking: Hourly rates are typically around $2.50 with a daily maximum near $20, and the parkade is often less crowded with easy access to the Marketplace and north village stroll.
Gateway Loop (short-term only)
Gateway Loop is a strictly short-term, high-turnover parking area next to the bus loop and pedestrian entrance, ideal only for quick pickups, drop-offs, or brief stops. Expect tightly enforced time limits of 15 to 30 minutes and no allowance for extended parking.
Parking at the Sundial Hotel.
Highlights
Guest-only EV charging: The Sundial Hotel offers dedicated EV chargers in its secure underground parking, providing reliable, hassle-free overnight charging without competing with public users or using separate apps.
Secure underground parking: For $45 plus taxes a night, the Sundial Hotel offers heated underground parking and allows 24/7 in-and-out access with no time limits or towing concerns for the duration of your stay.
Steps from lifts and village amenities: The Sundial Hotel is less than a one-minute walk to the Whistler and Excalibur gondolas and is surrounded by restaurants, shops, cafés, and après-ski spots.
Park once and walk everywhere: Located in the pedestrian-only Whistler Village, the Sundial Hotel’s central location eliminates the need to drive after check-in while keeping your vehicle protected from winter conditions.

Seasonal parking tips:
| Season | Parking Focus / Tips | Details / Recommendations |
|---|---|---|
| Summer (June–Aug) | Parking near biking/hiking trails | Lots near Fitzsimmons Chairlift and Day Lots 1–3 are busiest; arrive before 9AM or use farther lots (4–5) for better availability. |
| Adjustments for festivals & events | Large summer events may partially or fully close lots; check municipal/event websites for alternate parking or shuttles. | |
| Fall (Sept–early Nov) | Shoulder season advantages | Parking is easier as visitor numbers drop; Day Lots often free and closer spots are usually available even on weekends. |
| Village events & early snow | Pop-up events (Thanksgiving, Halloween) can fill lots; early snowfall may restrict outdoor lots—check forecasts and plan flexibly. | |
| Spring (Mar–May) | Mixed weather & transitional demand | Declining skier traffic and more day-trippers; indoor parkades appealing; Day Lots improve slightly, but weekends can still be busy. |
| Best lots for spring skiing & sightseeing | Day Lots 1–3 closest to lifts for skiers; 4–5 better for casual visitors, sightseeing, and walking routes with lighter crowds. |
Parking during ski season
During peak ski season (Dec–Mar), arrive early—by 7:30AM on weekends or holidays—to secure spots in Day Lots 1–3, as lots fill quickly and overflow moves to Lots 4–5 and parkades.
Tips for busy weekends and peak times
For full lots, use Creekside Park & Ride or outer lots with shuttle access, and aim to arrive before 9AM or after 5PM, as midday is the hardest time to find parking.
