One of my most favorite times of the year is fall. The leaves are changing colour, there is a crispness in the air and the anticipation of the upcoming ski season is within reach.
As locals we like to be a tourist in our own town from time to time and book a stay at the Sundial Boutique Hotel, located right at the base of the mountain. You can’t help but soak up the breathtaking views and watch the snowline creep closer and closer down the mountain. It’s a great opportunity to enjoy the nice fall weather and head out for a hike. Back at our Mountain View suite at the Sundial we relax by our fireplace before heading out to enjoy one of the many fine dining experiences Whistler has to offer.
The next day is full of activities. We are able to squeeze in one more round of golf at one of the three amazing courses in Whistler. If we aren’t lucky enough to get a hole in one, perhaps we will be lucky enough to see some wildlife. After a challenging day on the course we head back to our luxury accommodations to enjoy the hot tub and bask in the setting sun before heading out for another amazing meal. The Whistler restaurant choices abound and it is a foodie’s delight.
On the third day my partner takes to the hills to get some hard core biking in while I take it easy with a yoga class and some pampering at one of the excellent spa’s at Whistler. We decide to stay in tonight taking advantage of the fully equipped kitchen in our suite at the Sundial Boutique Hotel.
As we check out from our mini vacation the next morning we see the Canadian geese practicing their flying formations, getting ready for the fly past – a sure sign that winter isn’t too far away. Until the next time, thanks Whistler and thanks Sundial Boutique Hotel for the excellent memories.
