Bear Viewing Tours – An Unforgettable Experience

Whistler Bear Viewing Tours are a once in a lifetime opportunity to see west coast black bears in their natural habitat. These tours provide you with an unforgettable experience as you tour pristine meadows and old growth forests in search of the legendary bears that inhabit the Whistler area! Whistler and Blackcomb Mountains are the home of up to 60 black bears and cubs. Sit back and relax as your guide takes you for a tour in a comfortable 4X4 vehicle touring you around both mountains where you visit bear feeding grounds, hibernation dens and day beds.

It is not uncommon to catch a glimpse of a cute furry little cub hanging out in the treetops, or take in the sights of mother and cubs feeding in a field of clover at the crack of dawn or during the evening hours. These mountainous forests and meadows are also home to a variety of other wildlife that habitat the area such as black tailed deer, coyotes, hawks, Barred and Great Horned owls and our famous Western Hoary marmots. Don’t forget your camera as it is common to come over a mountain ridge into a pristine meadow filled with dear grazing in the pristine tranquility of their surroundings.

Your local guide, Michael Allen, is Whistler’s legendary black bear researcher with 25 years of experience. Michael documents the daily lives of bears observing their behaviours and sharing his knowledge and research so people can understand how bears adapt to changes in their surroundings brought on my man, climate and other bears in the area. Not only has Michael’s research been the foundation for many community bear awareness programs but he has been acknowledged through BBC documentaries along with Animal Planets bear ecology website. You will learn about local ecology, a day in the lift of bears, and the pristine animals that habitat these mountainous regions. With this bear tour you will also experience, up close, the magical world of Whistler and Blackcomb’s wildlife. Definitely don’t forget your camera as the sights on this tour are so amazing you will be showcasing them to everyone for years to come.

Our Guest Services team will be pleased arrange this once in a life time excursion for you to experience when you stay at the Sundial Boutique Hotel this summer! The Sundial offers spacious suites and convenient access to explore both mountains and we are only steps away from Whistler Village shops and restaurants.
