2010 Olympic Games Whistler
On July 2, 2003, Vancouver was named Host City of the 2010 Olympic and Paralympic Winter Games!
Together, Vancouver and Whistler will welcome countries from across the globe as they come together to compete on the world stage for the honour of representing their country in Olympic and Paralympic competition.
Whistler Resort will be hosting three major competition venues for the 2010 Olympic Games. These include:Alpine Skiing events on Whistler Mountain; Bobsled, Luge and Skeleton events at the Sliding Centre on Blackcomb Mountain; and Nordic, Biathlon & Ski Jumping Competition events in the Callahan Valley. Whistler will also be hosting the following Paralympic Events: all Alpine Skiing events, the Biathalon and Cross-Country Events.
This year, Whistler Blackcomb, along with VANOC, the Vancouver Olympic Committee, will be moving from the strategic and operational planning of the games to the "Games Readiness" phase. The completion of event venues will take place, followed by testing and practice drills to ensure everything runs smoothly for the upcoming 2010 Olympic Games.
